We Bare Our Midriffs in Salute to NAKED COWGIRL, a Kindred Blogger

K: SUMMER! It’s that time of year when our time-honored FU tradition of mixing a dash of subtle with our slutty goes out the window. Give me a super-sized serving of slutty as soon as the thermometer hits 90. “Summer in the city means cleavage, cleavage, cleavage.”

N: New York’s been bi-polar, with sunny mornings followed by afternoon downpours.  I’ve been sportin’ my 90’s shorts like nobody’s business, but a chillier day called for khaki mom pants.

N: Outfit inspiration from Naked Cowgirl Vintage.  Seriously, she’s a-fucking-dorable.

K: I read a lot of fashion blogs. I have two bookmark folders filled with sub-folders filled with blogs that I follow. Naked Cowgirl is the first blog that I immediately felt was a kindred spirit to FU. She has stunning vintage clothes styled thoughtfully and she frolics in nature.

K: What more could you want?

N: Boy do I miss those foothills.  Parks in my hood are small patches of grass inclosed by a fence.  The trees are not too climb-able, but I’ll try anyway.

K: Most fashion blogs focus on new fashion. This is because there are huge incentives for bloggers from advertisers to promote new products, and, soon, they take over the blog. Most vintage blogs are tied to an online vintage store, like Naked Cowgirl.

N: From the looks of it, Naked Cowgirl loves a good print and a silly pose.  Definitely a kindred spirit.

N: Envious of her floral print!  My floral blouse ain’t got shit on her dress.

K: At least it’s sheer, like this lace button-up that Bethany wore for our foothills frolic. Thank goodness I have my FU ladies for pictures in the bright sun and the green hills.

K: I fell over immediately after Bethany snapped this:

N: I’m sorry I wasn’t there to catch my boo.

N: Several passers-by asked if I wanted them to take my pictures for me. Taking pictures of your shoes alone in a tree isn’t that weird, is it?

K: Dude, none of this shit is weird to me anymore. It’s just a day in the life of FU.

Frivolity and self-consciousness cannot peacefully co-exist.
