I’m 5”10, so if I want to buy pants in Southeast Asia and don’t want to end up looking like Huck Finn in clam diggers, I need to visit a tailor. I drew up the design for these pants and had two pairs tailored in Hoi An, Vientam: This ancient hub of the silk trade and World Heritage site boast over 500 tailoring shops; tailors in Hoi An have the frenetic ability to knock out a new wardrobe for their clients in under 48 hours. I’ve burned through many tailors in this little port town, and I can attest to a favorite: Pin-Pin and her family are the best for speed, price, and fit, bar none.
